It's Been One Long Summer

Hello readers,

Once again life has got a hold on me and is holding me down from anything I enjoy. A lot has changed since my last post. I will try to do better but no promises. My employer has changed. I still work in the movie industry but my previous employee sold the company to a much bigger company. Some changes have been good and some have not. It was frustrating for a while but things have settled into place. Things change every week and I wonder what they are smoking in the corporate office. I am hanging in though.

So the next bit of news is that my boss got hurt at the beginning of summer and things have been quite stressful. It was only two of us running the place. I was mostly doing the general managers job and my own, while the other manager took over the ordering. We survived Cars 2, Transformers 3, Harry Potter Part 2, and of course Twilight: Breaking Dawn. It was busy but okay. I learned a lot of business stuff I would have never known if I wasn't put into the position that I did. I worked any where from 65 to 75 hours a week. I felt like I was living at the theatre all the time. But it had to been done.

So what do you want to know about the summer movies that you haven't already seen? I got nothing.....blanking out on titles....brain doesn't remember much, summer was a blur. Did I have a favorite summer movie? Nothing stands out. I like Transformers okay enough, Fast 5 wasn't horrible, Horrible Bosses was funny, Hangover 2 wasn't as funny as it should have been, Braidmaids could have been really funny but dropped the ball, Harry Potter was a fabulous ending, Breaking Dawn was my favorite of the series, and there are so more I could mention but don't want to.

Upcoming for Christmas is a good set of movies. I can't wait to see War Horse, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and even Alvin 3: Chipwrecked. I'm going to enjoy some time off more than anything. I'm looking forward to seeing movies for enjoyment than for work. Not that it was bad or anything.

So for now I go, I will do better to keep this up. Be patient with me, be understanding, and keep reading. Until later, see you at the movies!

Chills and thrills

Hello reader,

How is the winter weather going for you? Personally, I am ready for summer. I would gladly sweat than freeze. Even the movies are not summer friendly, nothing but chilly options. For instance, upcoming is The Rite. Anthony Hopkins is a priest that deals with exorcisms. Just thinking about the trailer makes my hair stand up and a chill goes down my back. We even have advance tickets on sale for the James Camerons' adventure film, Sanctum. Here we have a group of people that go into a cave, which of course gets flooded, and then they have to find a way to survive. Like I need to see people swimming around in some water. Hollywood please!

The only good thing is the action picture, The Mechanic. There should be enough heart pumping, gun shooting, bad cussing and killings to make the body warm. I look forward to this one. The only problem is that it is rated R, hence, all the "younger" men in town will be trying to see it. Then the name calling starts because I will be kicking them out. Some things never change.

Come on summer and all the hits you have to offer! Until then, see you at the movies.

Hello 2011

Happy New Year!!!

Not a whole lot going on these days. The company got bought out and the new owners are an interesting bunch. There have been plenty of changes, some good, some bad, and some just don't make any sense.

Movies for the most part have been uneventful. We had Paranormal Activity 2 but it was uneventful. No one passed out, no one got sick, and people behaved. Absolutely nothing going on.

I have some stories from concessions about customers being pissed about the prices going up. But I will share those when I have the time to write. I just wanted to check in and let you know I haven't forgotten you.

Until next time, see you at the movies.

Just Another Day in Paradise :)

Well, the weekend was odd. It was super busy at the beginning of the night on Friday, but not at the end. Then Saturday was just steady. In fact, it was so "not" busy that the big man decided to micro manager everyone. This is not always a bad thing, but I'm the kinda of manager that plans out the whole night in my head. Oh well, it worked out in the end. The night went well and everything was done early.

I haven't had a chance to see Shrek 4 yet, planning on seeing it tomorrow. I did unfortunately see MacGruber today. I wasted my time, not funny at all, and I think it's time for Saturday Night Live to stop making movies. Their current skits are not worthy of a full time movie. Gone are the great actors, and the characters they created.

The only funny story I have is that some older man threw his ticket stubs at the manager and said that it was right to charge so much money for such a shitty movie as MacGruber. Of course, had it been me, I would have to remind him that it was HIS idea to see the movie not mine. Unemployment here I come! But luckily it wasn't me. Now I know I have a good story to tell, but I can't remember it. I guess its because I'm really tired right now. So off to bed I go. Until next time, see ya at the movies.

Nightmare on my street! I hope not.

So, tonight is the opening of the remake of Nightmare On Elm Street. I'm not doing security tonight which is fine with me. Some dad is bringing about 10 or more 13 year old girls to the show. I wouldn't want to be in there for that one. I'm sure they will be stupid and scream at the dumbest things. I'll have to let you know as the weekend goes on.

I am looking forward to Iron Man 2. I just think Robert Downey Jr is perfect as Tony Stark. He has the whole look and attitude to pull it off. The summer movies should be great. The list is pretty amazing so far. The Twilight: Eclipse should bring in a bunch of business, Shrek Forever After should bring the families, and the list goes on. I'm looking forward to it all.

Well, gotta get ready for work. See you soon, at the movies.
