The evening started out fine. We were really busy with customers. The other two box office employees were going too slow and the line was getting worse. So I ended up selling tickets to help the lines go down. People seemed really nice at first, then it began. The movie was Step Up 2: The Streets. It was selling fast and then the teens arrived. We told them they wouldn't sit together, they couldn't get refunds, and they agreed. Now the party begins....
The first people to complain were a white couple. The man stood in the background while the lady went off on me. She wanted to know why if they bought their tickets at 1pm, they couldn't find good seats together. Of course she arrived for the sold out movie 5 minutes late. Hummmmm, I wonder why? She told me that we shouldn't sell tickets to a movie if the seats are not there. I explained that the seat are there, just not together. She wanted a refund and I said okay. She continued to complain loudly and asked why we sold tickets to the movie if the seats aren't there. I explained to her that the theater is general seating, you know, first come first seating, and maybe she shouldn't have been late. This pissed her off pretty good.
Then the teens come out and said they wanted refunds. I told them to hang on. I gave the lady her refund. I then told the teens they would have to get a readmit ticket unless an adult came in for them. The teens then decided to get loud and start cussing. I told them to hush and asked if they could call someone to come in. The lady then butted in and said she would get them a refund. I told her she couldn't and I wouldn't get her their refunds. I said you are done here and need to leave. She then wanted to see the written policy on refunds. My complex manager was nearby so I hollered at him to assist me. He then told the lady the same thing I did. She got loud and he yelled at her that it didn't concern her and she should but out. I was so happy he said it to her. I wished I could. Then another manager came out and said she found two seats together for them. The lady then turned and started for the theater. I stopped her and told her she needed to give me back the money for the tickets I refunded. She threw the money at me and left. The man standing behind her looked as if he was embarrassed to be with her. I felt sorry for him. She was a complaining bitch! You know the kind that no matter what you do, it is never enough!
Okay, she's gone. Now we battle with the teens. Two of them were going into theater looking for their uncle. He came out and I explained the policy with him. The girls kept cutting me off when I was talking to him and I yelled at them to shut up. He said he was sorry and then turned to them and yelled at them to stop talking and show some respect. I got him a refund for the two girls and then he called the dad to one of them. He told the dad that they were embarrassing and should not be acting that way. He said they were mistreating the managers here and that he was missing his movie because of them. He got their refunds and told them to leave and not come back. He apologized for them and went back to his movie.
I then had to deal with the next group. They got a hold of a mom, she came in, I explained the policy to her and told her how they knew they were not sitting together and they knew this. I then told her that it didn't help the way they cussed and carried on. She said she was sorry and it isn't right that we can take their money but not give it back. I agreed, it makes no sense to me either, but that is the policy I have to follow. She seemed shitty, but nice in a way. Hard to explain. They got their refunds and left. About an hour later, all the teens were back and in the fourier. They were blocking people from coming into the theater. One of the managers went out and told them they can't be blocking the entrance way. They apologized and moved over. I guess mom gave them a talking. They left shortly later.
It ended up taking forever to close. It was a crappy day all around.

Passed out and green
Okay, I forgot to add on my previous post about the guy who passed out. We ended up calling him the Green Goblin because of the way he looked. This guy comes out of a theater and doesn't look good. He is walking up to the bench and he was staggering about, as if he drank to much and he looks green. I mean his skin tone was green. No shit, green! Anyway, one of the cops working asked if he was okay and he said yeah then fell over and passed out. A offduty manager called for an ambulance and then the guy started waking up. He had no clue where he was. It took a few minutes for him to become aware of things. Then we found out that he was in Cloverfield and got motion sickness. The EMT's checked him out and said he was okay. He got up and then his friends took him out. It was a crazy night.
So all of that was Friday, now for Saturday. A woman came in with her husband, son and 2 dogs. Suppossedly these are service dogs, but they looked like lap dogs. They were very small and even the police questioned if they are really service animals. I went to the lady to make sure they are service animals and she proceeded to lecture me on what civil rights of hers that I have been violating. She told me that I should tell my boss to sit me down and have a talk with me. The funny thing is...when someone questioned the dogs, my maager was standing besides me and he wasn't sure what to do. I told him what she said and he said he would sit me down and straighten me out. Over a couple of beers!!!! Yeah, I have a cool boss.
I have Friday night off, so unless I get some good stories from the ones working, I won't have anything until Saturday. Until then....see ya at the movies.

Time out for 1, kicked out for the other!
The movie for the night was The Eye with Jessica Alba. The movie is boring for the usual bunch that enjoys horror flicks. I had to shut up several rows of kids before the movie even started. The I go back to the box area and catch a usual trouble maker trying to get a refund. I told him he needed to be 18 and have ID to get a refund. Then he said he wanted his refund because there were no seats together. I told him I would find them seats and he stated that the movie was already started. He and his friends were here early enough to get seats together but chose to hang out in the lobby. I told him I would give him a readmit and he said no. He asked some older gentleman to get his refund for him and I told him it needed to be his parent. He then started cussing. He said the man was his cousin and that he was the cousin of all his friends. This was not the first time I have had problems with this teen. The last time, I let his "cousin" get the refunds for them. I told him I would not do it again. He said I was the only one who followed this rule and that I was going to refund his ticket. He then told me he was going to snap in a minute and if his mom had to come up then I would be sorry. I then told him that I would be happy to get him a readmit and he could use it next weekend. He yelled "why are you still talking to me" and I told him that he could leave. He proceded to cuss at me and I had the police officer remove him from the building. I stated that he needed to leave and should not be getting a refund. The officer took the teen outside and spoke with him. All his friends were calling me names under their breaths. I left to go on break and went to the office to cool off. I was so pissed at this punk.
Then....
It was about an hour later that I noticed some young boy playing with the cords we use to section off areas. I told him to quit playing with them or he would have to leave. I looked over a few minutes later and he was playing with them again. I told him to have a seat on the bench and then I sat besides him. His friends were laughing at him because he was in a "time-out." I told him that all his friends were laughing at him for sitting with me. He said he didn't care. I said that his friends were saying things like: "Dang, you got a time out, dang you had to sit with the manager, dang you got busted!" He said, "Dang, you know our language!" It was quite funny to be honest.
Why can't the rest of these idiots act like that? He was cool with getting busted and had a sense of humor. It was nice for a change and I get to keep my ass intact. His momma wasn't going to get me later. We all laughed for a while on this one. At least the night got better. Until next time...see ya at the movies!
